Well, my encyclopedia isn't giving any clues, only that there are 'about four hundred' known species of shark, of which 'a few' attack humans.

I don't think any species of shark is considered a man-eater, in the sense that some of the large cats are. A man-eater means the individual animal has acquired a tasted for human flesh. Sharks are meat eaters and are not particularly fussy about where the meat comes from. So, in theory, all sharks can be man-eaters, but they don't go out of their way to hunt humans, as the odd large cat does. See: http://www.miamisci.org/sharks/facts.html The following site has quite a bit of information about all sharks. http://members.ozemail.com.au/~bilsons/SHARKS.htm#SHARK INDEX It seems to me that shark-eating men are more of a problem than man-eating sharks. That would account for the massive increase in shark fishing around the world and the growing numbers on the endangered species list! See: http://www.worldwildlife.org/oceans/
