A thousand apologies, Mary and Fosse4, it seems I've got my facts wrong. www.hookerycookery.com/biscuit006.htm contains the Shrewsbury biscuit recipe I mentioned in my previous posting, and I'm sorry to say it is NOTHING LIKE your description! I'm a keen amateur cook, and I have quite a stockpile of cookbooks, but I can't find what fits your description! Sorry.

Like every recipe there are about 1001 variations on a theme!! mk2norwich is indeed right - it is Shrewsbury Biscuits. Traditionally Easter Biscuits are made with sherry ( my mother always did)but they are based on the Shrewsberry recipe.Caraway seeds are an optional extra - which Delia used in her biscuits this year. Typed in a hurry so hope it makes sense!

This is certainly not an argument -Down here in deepest Dorset it's too nice a day to be other than full of joy and love for your fellow man/woman!! Just found my mother's first recipe book which was a'Radiation Cookery Book' 1936 - Guess what I found again - Shrewsbury Biscuits! {;-)}
