    Question #18230. doolittle asks:

How many movies can you name that were based on books or short stories?

    Kali

Do you mean books that are made into movies? Because I could name a lot! Here it goes: Jurassic Park, The Lost World (the sequel to Jurassic Park) The Lost World (by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle) The Beastmaster, Sphere, The Bone Collector, A Walk To Remember, Lord Of The Rings, Jaws, Little Women, Alice In Wonderland, and Alice through the Looking Glass, Harry Potter, The Shining, It, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Silence of the Lambs, The Time Machine, Clueless, Of Mice and Men, The Grapes of Wrath, To kill a Mockingbird, Gone With The Wind, The Godfather, Congo, A Time to Kill, The Horse Whisperer, Sense and Sensibility, Dracula, A Message In a Bottle, and I could name more. Does this help?

You've got to be kidding! Hundreds, thousands if I were to research it. I think
there are as many movies made based on books as there are not. That's why there
are two Oscar categories for screenplay writing. One for original and one for
    adaptation.
Just think of all the movies from these few authors.
    Stephen King
    John Grisham
    Ian Fleming
    Sidney Sheldon
    Dean Koontz
    Sir Arthur Conan-Doyle
    Edgar Rice Burroughs
    The Bronte sisters
    Jane Austen
The works of William Shakespeare adapted to books, then adapted to movies
    Charles Dickens
    Earnest Hemmingway
Those are just off the top of my head. See the following sites for many more.
