Can anyone explain the French surname 'Le Pen' - is it Franglais for 'la plume de ma tante' or what?

The reason 'Le Pen' looks a little odd as a French surname is because the family can be traced back to(at least)its 18th. century roots in Brittany, where the local language is similar to old Cornish or Welsh. It may be a variation on the old Breton surname 'Le Pennec' (originally meaning 'obstinate'!)
