Why do we in England say we have a 'constitutional monarchy' when we don't have a constitution?

We don't have a written constitution in the same way as the US, but we do have an unwitten constitution, largely convention and custom and practice that has built up over many years. Note that when a 'constitutional crisis' issue arises, for example, Prime Minister's Heath's failure to win a majority in the February 1974 General Election and no party having an overall majority, the unwitten constitution is able to cope. It's a constitutional monarchy because there are laws restricting the power of the monarch as apposed to absolute monarchy where there are no legal limits on the monarch power. By the way, Australia and New Zealand are also constitutional monarchies and they do have a constitution. May 05 02, 11:49 AM

We might have started it when Jesus was born, but why do we say 2005 AD (after death)? Why do we say, "No thank you, I have had elegant sufficiency," when asked if we want more to eat? When we take a picture why do we "say cheese"? Why do we say 'roger' when we mean 'understood?'
