CDT (Central Daylight-saving Time) is 5 hours behind UTC (also known as GMT) which is the standard 'winter' time at the Greenwich meridian and the standard for the whole world. CDT is used during the summer months in part of the USA. The rest of the year, they go one hour back to CST (Central Standard Time) which is 6 hours behind UTC.
