I know that the top ten occuring letters, in order, are e, t, a, o, i, n, s, r, h, and l.

There are different answers to this question based on different sources. In the book 'Decrypted Secrets' by F.L. Bauer, section 15.4.1 states: ''The' frequency distribution of English is a fiction... statistics on letter frequencies in different languages are quite variable.' That said, the following table lists the frequencies as found by C.H. Meyer and S.M. Matyas in 1982, as cited in the book mentioned above. (This is based on a sample of 4 million characters.) Letter Percentage a 8.04 b 1.54 c 3.06 d 3.99 e 12.51 f 2.30 g 1.96 h 5.49 i 7.26 j 0.16 k 0.67 l 4.14 m 2.53 n 7.09 o 7.60 p 2.00 q 0.11 r 6.12 s 6.54 t 9.25 u 2.71 v 0.99 w 1.92 x 0.19 y 1.73 z 0.09
