Bill Gates has a fortune around 52 billion dollars. No-one else comes close. The chairman of Wal-Mart Robson Walton was claimed by the Sunday Times on May 2nd 2001 to be the richest person in the world - but they overestimated by about 48 billion dollars - someone had put a decimal point in the wrong place!!
