This is oxygen but I thought there was more nitrogen in the air than oxygen.

It is indeed Oxygen and Nitrogen is indeed the most abundent in the air (about 70% if my O Level chemistry remembers well). However Oxygen also occurs in water (H20) and at a guess this with the 29% (?) in the atmosphere would probably make it the most abundant element.

O is oxygen, and element 8, however hydrogen is by far the most abundant element in the universe.
