I'm getting old and forgetful, I guess. There used to be a kind of gum when I was a kid, served in a little draw string bag and likened to gold nuggets. Does anyone remember what this stuff was called?

For some reason the name Gold Rush springs to mind but actually I think it was more likely to be called Gold Nuggets (ie your first description is the right one). I am worried that you think this is an 'old and forgetful' thing because I remember this stuff quite clearly and I've only just had my 30th birthday...

Poke of Gold comes to mind. Cost 10 cents. (Reposted - deleted in error - McG)

I can't believe I did that again. Sorry dendron, I accidentally deleted your post so I tried to re-create it. Your 'Poke of Gold' sounded familiar so I went searching but didn't find anything with that exact name. Here's what I did find: This link is a picture of 'Gold Nugget Gum,' appears to say 'Gold Rocks' on the bag. http://www.oryans.com/goldnuggetgum.html Picture of 'Gold Mine Gum' http://www.candywarehouse.com/goldminegum.html Also found 'Bag O'Gold' gum which turned out to be the same 'Gold Rocks' bag and 'Nuggets'O'Gold' which has a yellow smiley face on it so isn't as old. http://theimaginaryworld.com/gum11.jpg

We had Gold Rush in the UK once, for a short time, but they disappeared, along with chocolate cigarettes and space dust (a strange candy which made a crackling sound in your mouth).
