I'm getting old and forgetful, I guess. There used to be a kind of gum when I was a kid, served in a little draw string bag and likened to gold nuggets. Does anyone remember what this stuff was called?

For some reason the name Gold Rush springs to mind but actually I think it was more likely to be called Gold Nuggets (ie your first description is the right one). Your 'Poke of Gold' sounded familiar so I went searching but didn't find anything with that exact name.
