    Are french fries French?

    Question #19547. Asked by Piere.

    Son of The Household Cavalry

Non - French fries most likely originated in Belgium and the term French came about due to the technique used in slicing the potatoes in long strings, similar to French cut green beans. In France french fries are called pommes frites. - http://webacc.fsd38.ab.ca/schools/OJHS/projects/french2001/food.html
