This question is ambiguous--do you mean: 1.) America eats more of this food than any other food? 2.) America eats more of this food than any other country? For 1.) do you mean by weight or by frequency or what? For 2.) do you mean per capita or total? In any case, this is going to be a *hard* question to answer.

I think it is safe to say, and please correct me if I am wrong Clara, she is looking for the food(s) Americans eat more of than any other food in America, by volume for the total population. The following is from a report the USDA did on how Americans are eating. Some variables and comparisons are mentioned, such as dates, age and sex. For Americans, beverages, -- particularly carbonated soft drinks -- were the most popular food item consumed outside the home. French-fried potatoes and grain mixtures such as pizza, lasagna and ravioli, and Mexican foods are among the foods popular at home or away. Fast-food establishments, including pizza parlors, have passed restaurants as the most frequent source of outside food. In 1994-95, 57 percent of Americans consumed meals and snacks away from home on any given day, accounting for about half of their daily calorie and fat intake on average. See: http://www.barc.usda.gov/bhnrc/foodsurvey/home.htm If anyone has any questions, contradictions or believes there are any misleading statements, anomalies or misrepresentation of any kind, after reading the report, please contact the USDA as per their site, and take it up with them. I am merely giving directions to where information someone is looking for, might be found.
