    Why is Ouija pronounced weegee?

    		. It isn't. It is pronounced wee ja The word comes from oui and ja. French and german for yes.

    It is interesting, dictionaries are actually quite useful at explaining the pronunciations of words, I am surprised more people haven't cottoned on to it.
    Most mispronunciations come about from laziness of speech. 'Could of' being a classic example and one that infuriates me, it has come about by abbreviating 'could have' to 'could've' which in terms of sound has been misconstrued to be 'could of'.
