KIWI IN OZ
. It isn't. It is pronounced wee ja The word comes from oui and ja. French and german for yes. Source Oxford dictionary. It is interesting, dictionaries are actually quite useful at explaining the pronunciations of words, I am surprised more people haven't cottoned on to it. Most mispronunciations come about from laziness of speech. 'Could of' being a classic example and one that infuriates me, it has come about by abbreviating 'could have' to 'could've' which in terms of sound has been misconstrued to be 'could of'.

My wife and I were playing a few quizzes here one night and she thought out loud that she wished there were a quiz about Sade. Well, her wish is my command (haha). Enjoy Sade fans!
