President Johnson, President Lincoln's successor, was taught what by his wife?

    Question #19785. Asked by Maggie.

    Petaluma

The sites I've found are pretty much divided between saying that she taught him to read and saying that he taught himself to read, but she taught him how to write and do arithmetic. Do a search for 'Andrew Johnson' and wife and taught on www.google.com and you can see which sites you believe.
