Where did the Cleveland Indians get their name?

The team was officially dubbed the 'Indians' in 1915 in honour of Louis Sockalexis, a native North American, who joined the team in 1897. He was a star player at the time and for some years in the early 1900s Cleveland were nicknamed the 'Indians'.
