Why are the sirens in the UK so different than the ones in the United States?

On the contrary, for some considerable time now over here in Britain, the traditional 'nee -naaw nee naaw' sound that our emergency vehicles used to have, have been almost totally replaced by the more American sounding sirens.

Cut off in mid-stream The type of signal used in the USA is now being used by the Emeregency Services in the UK alongside the traditional UK warnings.

The sirens in the U.S. also do the Hi-Lo mode, for example, the Federal Thunderbolt 1003 and the Federal 3T22. UK carters, etc. also do this signal. Over here, it is known as a fire signal.
