British playwright Alan Ayckbourn's most famous work is his comic trilogy The Norman Conquests. Each of the three plays is set in a different part of the same house during one three-day weekend. Norman was an assistant librarian and self-confessed 'three-woman-a-day man' and no ordinary gigolo. While hardly handsome (Annie describes his as 'resembling a badly built haystack'), he is irrepressibly charming, and has an uncanny ability to sense other people's feelings and play them to his own advantage. - http://www.gsd.harvard.edu/~staffba3/normanco.html
