Which country originally produced Peugeot cars. The obvious answer is France and all research points to france. Is it this obvious or am i missing something?

In 1858 the company adopted the Lion logo and in 1885 - by then being run by Jean-Pierre's grandson Armand Peugeot - diversified into the production of bicycles.
