The absolute shortest is Job 3:2 "He said"
It has less letters.

Job 3:2 is not a full sentence - it's the beginning of a longer sentence. And John 11:35 is actually three words in Greek. The shortest full sentence in the Bible is 1 Thessalonians 5:16 - only two words.

John asked for shortest 'verse' not sentence. Anyway, the Bible wasn't divided into the modern chapter and verse until the 15th-16th centuries. There are different numbers of these, and different numbers of books too depending on whether it is a Jewish or Christian publication, and in the case of the latter it varies for different branches of the religion. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chapters_and_verses_of_the_Bible Which translation is referred to can affect matters as well.
