If you keep ice cream in a deep freeze, with temperature less than -18 degrees C, it can be kept for a year or two. After about the first year, the taste starts to deteriorate. While it is still safe to eat, it will be somewhat flavourless and bland. After about the third year, you should probably throw it out.
