Hi, in 1977, the pilot for the KNBC traffic station helicopter died tragically. It was described as tragic AND ironic, considering who he was and what he did before. Does anyone know his name and what he was famous for?

: Francis Gary Powers, 48, a helicopter pilot and newscaster for KNBC-TV in Los Angeles, was killed when the Bell 206 JetRanger helicopter (N4TV) he was piloting crashed into a ploughed field at the Sepulveda Dam Recreational Area in the San Fernando Valley suburb of Encino. Also killed was the other occupant of the craft, George Spears, 43, a TV cameraman. The two men were returning to the KNBC Studios heliport in Burbank after covering a brush fire near Santa Barbara for a Channel 4 News segment. The cause of the crash was attributed to fuel starvation -- the helicopter ran out of fuel. Powers made worldwide headlines on May 1, 1960, when the U-2 spy plane he was piloting was shot down while flying over Russia, an event that created a major international incident. He was captured and sentenced to 10 years in a Soviet prison but was freed on February 10, 1962, in exchange for Soviet spy Rudolf Abel. http://members.aol.com/jaydeebee1/crash70s.html
