Ever since George III's death (1820), it has been at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, although Victoria was buried at Frogmore and Edward VIII who abdicated was buried in Paris. Before that Westminster Abbey and Windsor were popular burial places going back to Henry III (1272). Notable exceptions were George I, who died in {Hannover;} James II who died in exile and was cut up and buried at five different venues in {France;} Lady Jane Grey who was beheaded and buried in the Tower of {London;} Edward V murdered and probably buried at the Tower of {London;} Edward II (you don't want to know about his death!) at Gloucester {Cathedral;} and John at Worcester Cathedral. Prior to that there were no 'traditional' burial places. They tended to be buried in priories or abbeys close to where they died. Source: The Guinness Book of Answers - yes, books exist!
