    Great news that the trapped miners were rescued. However can anyone help with a question (well argument really) - I distictly remember seeing a film about trapped miners - sadly the whole thing turned into a carnival with fair rides etc. Does anyone know what film I'm thinking of?

    I think this could be 'Ace in the Hole' aka 'The Big Carnival' in which I starred as a cynical reporter trying to exploit a human interest story

    Many thanks Kirk - I am sure I saw it as The Big Carnival. What country was it set in - was it USA or possibly Wales?

    Take an asprin Tim.
    The movie Ace in the Hole {is;}

    loosely based on both a 1920's cave-in accident and an even more heart-tugging, paper-selling tragedy in 1949, Ace in the Hole bears a passing resemblance to history, but its merciless slant is Billy Wilder's own. In 1925, Floyd Collins, the owner of the Crystal cave in central Kentucky, was trapped inside after a landslide. Due to the Louisville Courier%96Journal reporter who helped command the rescue operations, covering the story all the while, Floyd's misfortune was America's entertainment. The story gripped the nation for several weeks before (and immediately after) Collins died in the cave.

    Please can some kind soul help me to remember the name of a film - It was a British film, a comedy, set in Wales. Brenda Fricker and Jane Horrocks were in it, and it was about two sisters who accidentally killed their mother, and hid her body.I cannot remember for the life of me the title of this film - Can anybody help?

    Founded by a famous woman, who named it to indicate that only she and a favored few could visit it, this great cultural institution functioned as the set of an unusual film that involved a single, 90-minute tracking shot. What is it, for what unfortunate reason has it recently been in the news, and what is the film?

    I went to a Saturday matinee movie in about 1958 or 1959, and I saw a western that I'd love to find again. I don't think it had any big-name stars in it. The only part of the plot I remember: Two good guys - one older, one younger (perhaps a child) are trapped in a cabin that the bad guys are going to burn down. The older good guy digs a hole in the dirt floor of the cabin, puts the younger guy in the hole, and covers him with dirt. He has a stovepipe to breathe through, and a coffee can inverted over the end of the stovepipe, either to keep the dirt out or maybe so the bad guys won't realize he's under there. The house burns to the ground and the bad guys think they've killed both good guys, but the younger one actually survives. I think it was in color but I'm not even sure of that. If you don't know the film, do you know of other places I might ask?
