    Did John Hancock start the company that uses his name today?

    		If you mean the John Hancock who signed the Declaration of Independence, no. The John Hancock Corporation was founded by four people around 1870.

    I haven't been able to find the names of the founders, but my guess is they called it by a name that nobody would forget.
