Answering the question as spelt - http://www.blackfen.com/bglenn/Characters/Splague.html - The Black Plauge is a normal man, a doctor named Emil Blithewight, with powers brought on by a hyper-advanced plague. He caught it from an archaeologist whom he was treating. The archaeologist died horrifically from the plague, black bubos covering his body, pussy sacs hanging from his face. The archaeologist never actually said where he caught it from, so the Black Plague doesn't know.

It is now thought that the black plague was a combination of bubonic plague and anthrax.
