Yes, John did write Revelations (Rev. 1:1)--however, Scripture Scholars do not think it was the diciple John.

Tradition says it was written by the Apostle John on the island of Patmos, where he was imprisoned for his faith, either shortly or after the death of Nero or at the close of the 1st century. Bible Dictionary and Concordance - Cruden

Yes, it was written by a man named John imprisioned on Patmos (Rev. 1:9). But today Scholars no longer believe it was the Apostle John, although they once did.
