Technically, eight. The first to do so was Billy Smith of the Islanders - although he was more credited with the goal than scored it, as the puck went in off the opponent (and Smith was the last to touch it). The first NHL goalie to truly put a puck into the net was Ron Hextall. Those two were it for a long time, until Detroit's Chris Osgood (versus Hartford) although in the meantime Damien Rhodes was credited with a goal in the same manner as Smith. I know Brodeur has scored (I think that was a "true" goal), Evgeni (sp?) Nabokov (SJ) has scored, Miko Noronen (sp?) has scored as well as Jose Theodore. Happily, the goalie ALL Red Wing fans love to hate, Patrick Roy (actually, Patrick Waaaahh) retired having never scored a goal...or won a goalie fight, for that matter.

On April 15, Nashville's goalie, Chris Mason scored a goal, becoming the ninth goalie in history to score.

Technically I would have to say there were nine. Although never really credited, Gerry Cheevers scored one for the B's in the early 70's. The first to be credited with actually scoring the goal (I mean actually putting it in the net) was Ron Hextall on Dec. 8th 1987. Two years later Hextall also became the first goalie to accomplish this in the post season.
