What is the best way to treat a blister?

Question #21830. Asked by Sam the Sham. (Aug 25 02 12:59 PM)

    Barrow boy

Never break a blister as you may introduce infection into the wound. A blister usually needs no treatment. However, if it breaks, or is likely to be damaged, cover the injured area with a dry, non-adhesive dressing that extends well beyond the edges of the blister. Leave in place until the blister subsides.

A popular regional treat in the U.S., this item has a name that presumably represents the need to keep something away from it. At one point, it showed up in the title of a song that became the first hit for a now-deceased vocalist. The name of a similar southern counterpart has been variously etymologically interpreted but seems to have nothing to do with the game it suggests. What is the treat, who was the singer and what was her song, and what's the southern version?

Supposedly named after a state govenor, there is some confusion with the word itself as to what was actually named after him, an edible treat or a piece of clothing? However, etymology experts seem to link the govenor with the treat. What are they and who were they both named after?

Adored by some, derided by many as the epitome of gastronomic tackiness, this substance is a standard ingredient in a certain "taste treat" closely associated with a venerable U.S. city -- though even some fans of the treat sneer at it. What is this food item, made by a famous company founded over 100 years ago and colored by something that comes from a tree nicknamed for a cosmetic? And in what weird musician's song was it supposedly claimed that the item in question is enjoyed by the Devil?
