Years ago I remember a discussion round a dinner table...think it was 15 degrees...only remember because one of the dinner guests though it meant 15 degrees from the horizontal, not the vertical aspect, and someone commented that the bus would need wheels on the side of the roof!

I'm pretty sure it's more than 15 degrees .... I remember seeing pictures of London buses looking like they should well fall over! Unfortunately I can't find any reference to it on the web, but if you ask the people at the routemaster site http://www.routemaster.org.uk/questions.htm they will SURELY be able to tell you :-)

I got a reply, the legal limit in the UK is 28 degrees, but they can lean up to 38 before falling as per Andrew Morgan at routemaster!

We love to shorten words but English also has a nice reservoir of words where we have doubled the sound to make an attractive new word. Can you guess the meaning of these double-sound words ?
