What is the difference in gravity from the north pole to the south pole and why is the gravitational pull stronger at one of the ends?

Question #22083. Asked by anon. (Aug 31 02 6:23 AM)

I'd guess that if there is any difference at all, it is because the South Pole is a continent which tends to be about 50 km thick, while the North Pole is in the middle of an ocean. Ocean floor tends to be only about 3 km thick.

This is due to the fact that the Earth is spinning slower at the poles and therefore produces less centrifugal force to counter gravity. Gravity is strong, and the spinning of the Earth causes a centrifugal force to pull on us, which slightly lessens the force of gravity.
