Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO)
The Palestine Liberation Organization is undoubtedly one of the best known terrorist organizations in the world. Accordingly, the organization is led by perhaps the best known individual in the modern history of international terrorism; Yasser Arafat. The PLO was created in 1964 during a meeting known as the Palestinian Congress in an effort to give a voice to the large number of Palestinians living in refugee camps in Lebanon.
Today, Yassar Arafat and the PLO participate in a tentative peace with the Israeli government in an effort to stabilize tensions and establish a mutually acceptable resolution to the decades-old conflict.

Yassar Arafat was one of the founders and the chairman of the Fatah, in 1968 he became the chairman of the PLO and he's known today as the chairman of the Palestinian Authority but still holds all the positions he gained. The bodies of the PLO still exist but only the ones agreed upon in the Oslo Agreement are recognized.

They now call themselves the PA, Palestinian Authority. Several larger west bank towns have now been transferred to PA control, such as Hebron, Ramallah and similar. These days the Hamas party is most in prominence, popular because it offered a significant welfare package to the Palestinian population albeit together with a militant agenda similar to that of the PLO.
