    		ooops sorry! I'm wrong! It's Benedict IX ( at the tender age of 12) This found in the pears Ultimate Quiz book also.(pg 256)

    		I've researched this question before. It wasn't Benedict, who was actually several years older. This '12 year old pope' is an urban myth. The first answer is correct.

    		Let's start again, as I'm dissatisfied with my last answer. I have researched this before and am pretty certain that the youngest pope was not Benedict IX aged 12 (one website even says eleven!). I think that this is as much an urban myth as that Mr Titzling invented the bra.

    The yougest pope in place of Benedict IX would be John XII in 955AD who was 18 (Benedict IX being 20).

    Previously I found a much better website than that below, but I haven't found it this time around.
