Diflucan gives you a totally different way to treat your yeast infection. That's
because Diflucan usually requires just one pill.

In Canada, Fungizone or the generic name Amphotericin B, is a one pill taken
orally 'cure', and you can only get it by prescription.

I also checked with my pharmacist.

I just want to add, that my doctor along with most others, recommend a seven-day
treatment with ovules. These can now be bought OTC in Canada.

In the UK there's Canesten, which I suspect is the same drug.

We have Canesten in Canada as well, along with Motrin. They use to be by
prescription only as well, but they are OTC now.
The active ingredient in Canesten is Clotrimazole. In Monistat, it is
    miconazole nitrate.
I got that from their websites.

Why they are different, I have no idea!
While researching this, I came across a couple of sites with homeopathic and
    home remedies!!
Can you just imagine standing there STILL, making this junk?!!! LOL!!!

    Hope you feel better soon...

Fluconazole (Diflucan) is an antifungal agent which is taken systemically (taken by mouth or intravenously).
It is fungistatic, which means that it stops fungi (such as Candida albicans) from multiplying, but does not actually kill them.
This accounts for the fact that sometimes it takes several days to have an effect
    http://users.erols.com/cindyrn/21.htm

Diflucan works from the inside out, penetrating into the vaginal tissue to help eliminate the yeast infection. One pill of Diflucan has a dosage amount that stays effective in the vaginal tissue for 3 days

(Stays effective for 3 days. One has to keep using it... )
    http://www.diflucan-fluconazole.org/diflucan_about_diflucan.html

    Diflucan site says 'Usually'
...That's because Diflucan: Usually requires just one pill...
    http://www.diflucan.com/

For vaginal yeast infections one dose of Fluconazole or Diflucan by mouth is effective, however the itchiness associated with the infection may persist.
