Sorry. Can't be done in a day.... You'll have to piddle razor blades for a little longer! Maybe Nitroglycerine would help! . Initially, a urinary tract infection should be categorized as complicated or uncomplicated. Further categorization of the infection by clinical syndrome and by host (i.e., acute cystitis in young women, acute pyelonephritis, catheter-related infection, infection in men, asymptomatic bacteriuria in the elderly) helps the physician determine the appropriate diagnostic and management strategies. Uncomplicated urinary tract infections are caused by a predictable group of susceptible organisms. These infections can be empirically treated without the need for urine cultures. The most effective therapy for an uncomplicated infection is a three-day course of trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole. Complicated infections are diagnosed by quantitative urine cultures and require a more prolonged course of therapy. Urinary Tract Infections in Adults (article) ROBERT ORENSTEIN, D.O. Urinary tract infections are caused by a bacterial infection. Symptoms such as burning and lower abdominal pain can be eased by drinking alkaline medication such as Mist. Pot Cit (ask the pharmacist) or a sachet over the counter. However if there are bacteria present they need to be obliterated by antibiotics as they may travel back via the ureters (tubes connecting the kidneys to the bladder). This may rsult in kidney infections which can be serious. Sugest you take a clean urine sample to your doctor who may give you nitrofurantoin or pivampicillin or similar. You should get proper help.

In NZ and Aussie we have an over the counter remedy called Citravescent. It is a systematic alkalinizer, basically bi carbonate os soda. It is great if the infectionis in the early stages , drink lots of water. If the infection has tracked back up to kidneys you will need to get to doctor as citravescent will not work. Prevention is the best remedy for this one as I learnt through nine months of pregnancy plagued by cyctitis and thrush.

It's called Monurol (Fosfomycin).
Great for UTI's. One dose does it. 3g packet mixed with 4oz of water - kind of citrus flavored. It's a highly concentrated dose that stays in the urine for 48 hours.
