Methuselah was the longest-lived man, with a specified age, in Biblical history. He lived 969 years and was the great-great-great-great-great-grandson of Adam. As the ancient Hebrews used a lunar calendar, a lifespan of 969 months would equate to a more reasonable sounding 84 years. http://www.everything2.com/?node=Methuselah

We still do use a lunar calendar, but we never did substitute years for months. A year is 12 to 13 months long in the Jewish calendar - always was.
Methuslah (Metushelach in Hebrew) was the oldest person whose age at death is written about in the Bible, specifically 969 years. Only one woman was mentioned as having an age at death - Sarah, 127.
