Why do American Indians protest Columbus day?
Question
#22815. Asked by Chief Joseph.

Native Americans protest Columbus Day for two main reasons. One is that Columbus didn't discover America. He didn't discover India, he didn't even discover the West Indies, which is where he landed. As a matter of fact, at the time of Columbus, the West Indies were a colony of Spain. Therefore, Columbus landed right back where he started from- Spain. Secondly, the Native Americans believe that Columbus is the man who brought rape, incest, plague, and disease to America.
