What are viruses? If they aren't alive, then what are they?

Viruses are very simple 'organisms'.
They are basically made of RNA or DNA wrapped into a protein. Their mode of reproduction is by introducing their genetic material into a cell, the cell will then make viruses, and when the cell is full it collapses. Viruses absolutely need another cell to reproduce.
