According to John 18:30, no crime at all...
'Jesus was accused of being a criminal though he had never broken any law. Though Pilate judged Jesus to have no fault at all, he was still crucified.'
The Romans were the occupying force in the Holy Land at the time. They crucified anyone who gave the slightest sign of threatening their power on the region. Thousands were crucified or killed in other gruesome ways in order to deter the oppressed natives from asserting themselves and rebelling against their tyranny. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ten_Martyrs
According to Christian history Jesus was attracting a growing grass roots following in Galilee.. that would have been enough from the Romans' point of view.
