Any trainers out there, I have heard that it is better to exercise in the morning than at night time, is this true, also is more intense aerobic activity better than duration, like if i ran for an hour straight at a certain pace, compared to running at my top speed for 20 minutes, what is better?

    Question #23278. Asked by dan.

I believe that running at about 75% of your capacity, for an hour will increase you cardio-vascular fitness much more than running at full speed for only 20mins.
It depends on what you want to get from running.
I run at night time (because I work night shift and I sleep in, in the mornings) but I understand it's better to run in the mornings because a: it wakes you up, and b: you have more energy to expend when you run.

circulation is rather sluggish when you wake up as it slows down when you are asleep,so exercising in the morning speeds up your metabolism for the rest of the day.in the afternoon your muscles are warmer and more flexible and your strength is at its peak.exercising in the evening is a good way of relieving stress after a hard day. in other words any time of day is good so long as you do some exercising. choosing the time that you are most likely to keep it up is usually the best time.the trouble with high intensity exercise is that it produces lactic acid in the muscles which tires you out more.its a waste of time exercising at top speed and wearing yourself out and gaining an injury that will put you out of action.speed endurance training is good for getting your body more used to lactic acid and improves its ability to remove it from the muscles. always warm up and cool down before and after exercising to decrease the risk of injury. i am always of the opinion that a steady pace is much better than burning yoursef out!
