How did Ohio get the nickname Buckeye?

    Question #23337. Asked by Sam.

    Tabby Tom

According to many websites, Ohio is called the Buckeye State because of the many buckeye trees that grow there.

The buckeye tree is so called because its nut is thought to look like the eye of a deer.
