Australain Aborigines 'There is substantial evidence tracing Australian Aboriginal culture back some 100,000 years, which would make it the oldest living culture in the world. Extremely complex in nature, the Aborigines' successful preservation of their culture (without relying on a written language) keeps fascinating scholars around the globe. Although they have adopted some of today's modern technology, Aboriginal people continue to maintain their traditions and endlessly strive to pass on the sacred beliefs and knowledge to their children. First hand exposure to Aboriginal culture is on of the richest experiences the Territory has to offer visitors.' http://www.insidetheoutback.com/media/culture.html

How old is Aboriginal Rock Art? Archaelogists continue to argue over their age, but some of the earliest paintings, in red ochre in northern sandstone shelters, have been dated at 50,000 years. In 1996 in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, an engraving site was dated at 110,000 years old, sending archaelogists back to the drawing board and rewriting the history of modern human movement. http://shop.store.yahoo.com/upfromaustralia/50yearofcavp.html
