    Does anyone know the when, where and why birthday candles were invented?

    		The Greeks were said to have placed candles on the birthday cakes to make them look as if they were glowing like the moon, when offering them up to the goddess, Artemis.     It's my birthday next weekend and I'd like to know why we blow out candles on birthday cakes. What does it all mean and why do my wishes never come true?

    After blowing out some candles (not the birthday candles, but real ones in jars), I noticed the stuff had burned and became a liquid, am I supposed to just leave that liquid in there and let it dry, or are you suposed to pour that out immediately?
