    Why are there zig-zag white lines painted on British roads?

    		white zig zag lines are placed eiher side of a zebra or pelican crossing and indicate that cars are not allowed to park wait or overtake in the zig zag areas

    		A Zebra crossing is a path across a road marked with black and white stripes where pedestrians may cross.
    A pelican crossing is a signal-controlled crossing operated by pedestrians.ie traffic lights
