Which famous scientist pubilicly ridiculed the ideas of dr. s chandrasekhar (carl safan, fred hoyle, stephen hawking, arthur eddington) ?

    Question #24164. Asked by ranu.

    Barrow boy

Chandrasekhar gave a talk on white dwarfs and their size limits at the Royal Astronomical Society in January 1935. But, instead of applauding him, the most famous astronomer at that time, Arthur Eddington, ridiculed his ideas. Chandra was crushed because he wasn't taken seriously. Eddington was wrong, but everyone believed him instead of this young man from a distant country.
