    		Toilets were used by the Minoans in Santorini (a Greek Island) and Knossos on Crete before 1450 BC.

    		The flush toilet, or W.C. was invented by the wonderfully named Thomas Crapper in the late nineteenth century. His Improved Ornamental Flush-down WC Basin (reg No 145823), Polished mahogany seat with flap, New pattern 3 gallon cast iron syphon cistern (Rd No 149284), Brass flushing pipe, clips and pendant pull complete, sold for the princely sum of six pounds, fifteen shillings.
