What difference does the water temperature make in washing clothes, usually when I go to the laundromat and hit color clothes, I get warm water, but recently, only cold water came out, does that matter?

The hotter the water, the better the wash. But unfortunately at really high temperatures the dyes in the clothes will start to be washed out. So a 90 degree wash is really only suitable for white clothes. 40 degrees is the normal temperature for coloured clothes but recently, new detergents have been produced which are effective even at only 30 degrees, so there is less likelihood of colour run.
