I've had two lovebirds for over two years now and we still don't know what sex they are. They haven't laid eggs yet. Can I tell what they are because of the eggs?

Are they both boys or both girls. This would be quite a problem! The sex of budgies can be determined this way: The cere (the rounded fleshy area surrounding the nostrils) will be a bright blue or pinkish-purple on males, and white, tan or brown on females Try this site:

You seem to have gone of at a tangent K. The Lovebird (Agapornis) is completely different to the Budgie. The name Budgerigar (Melopsittacus Undulatus) comes for the Autstralian aboriginal dialect and roughly translated means 'Good Food'. The only sure way to tell a lovebirds sex is by DNA testing, this is rather costly but normally 100% correct, the other ways are just old wives tales because they say that females have a wider stance than males and they also put paper in their backs (for nesting) and these statements have been proved to be misleading.

Thanks Senior Moments, that was refreshing.
Throughout my short term on this planet I have always believed budgerigars and lovebirds to be synonymous. One learns new things everyday. Thanks...
You obviously have been indulging in the ginko biloba, glucamine and CoQ10 lately.
Here is a site for you, birdie.
