If the correct term for a man who is a doctor and his wife is 'Doctor and Missus', then what do you call a couple when the wife is a doctor, 'Mister and Doctor,' or 'Doctor and Mister'?

Question #24636. Asked by Simon. (Nov 27 02 4:14 PM)

    Guru???

Why not just call them Mr and Mrs? A surgeon is not referred to as doctor so why should they?

I'd say Mister and Doctor, as by tradition (at least in the UK), the man's name always precedes his wife's. Sexist, maybe, but that's how it is with us Brits....

If you are referring to a medical doctor, then the title 'Dr' is a courtesy title only. Mr and Mrs would be perfectly correct.

I believe it's Doctor first , and then Mr or Mrs .

Unless one is a PhD, then the title Dr is a courtesy title only and should only be used in a professional situation, not a social setting. Mr and Mrs is the correct answer.
