it'd have to be Corinthians, these sites seem to confirm my initial thoughts .. som eparts of the question are, however, debateable. The official history of football by FIFA (it's upstairs somewhere) does not give this club the 'honour' of introducing football to Brazil (see also other parts of the first web site below). You may have heard of the Corinthian spirit even if you have not heard of the Corinthians, as for 30 years they were probably the best football team in the world.
