Which system of measurement is used more in Australia / New Zealand - imperial or metric?

1969 - New Zealand adopts the metric system and begins an 8 year conversion programme. 1970 Canada and Australia adopt the metric system. (As does nearly all of the world) The US, Liberia and Burma remain the only countries still using English imperial units http://www.ukmetrication.com/ustimeline.htm

Nz converted to decimal system 10th July 1967. I clearly remember the jingles teaching us the system to convert. One a penny one cent two a penny two cents three a penny two cents too four a penny three cents five a penny four cents six a penny five cents new so a sixpence became 5c, a shilling (12pennies) became ten cents 10 shillings became a dollar
